March 5, 2024, Endorsements
Let’s elect pro-labor candidates and pass measures that help our communities!

Each election, SEIU 1021 members endorse candidates who will stand with us as we fight to win strong contracts and protect working standards.

Winning for our members is important. We do this by volunteering in elections and contributing to our Committee on Political Education (COPE) funds.

We urge members to participate in phone banking, canvassing, and other outreach initiatives to help us elect candidates who will fight for us and pass measures that will benefit workers across Northern California.

Click the links below to see what candidates and measures SEIU 1021 members have endorsed for the March 5, 2024 election, and see our upcoming volunteer opportunities here.

Elections have consequences. Help make sure this one benefits working people!
Educate and mobilize your community to vote for candidates and initiatives that advance justice and equity!

We all know how important it is to vote up and down the ballot by now, right? Since national media coverage almost always focuses on federal elections like the House, the Senate, and the White House, it can be easy to lose track of what is happening down the ballot. Yet the local candidates we elect and the local and state ballot initiatives we pass—or vote down—all arguably have a bigger effect on our communities, day-to-day lives, and, as public sector and nonprofit workers, our jobs.

That’s where SEIU 1021 and YOU come in!

The Supreme Court Turns Back the Clock, Relegates Women to Second-Class Citizens
Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Must Be Our Call to Action

By Theresa Rutherford, SEIU 1021 Vice President for San Francisco and Certified Nursing Assistant

I am so enraged it is hard to find words this morning. The highest court in the land – the court that is meant to be the final check in the system of checks and balances to protect our human and constitutional rights – has taken away the right of 51 percent of this country to make decisions about our own bodies and lives. In effect, this ruling will criminalize people for making deeply personal decisions about their healthcare, families, and future.

As a result, the hospital is required to implement a Closure and Patient Transfer and Relocation Plan while we all continue to work towards recertification.

A recent national story from TIME dives into the different ways that short-staffing in local public services impacts our communities.
