Designed for new stewards, this course focuses on the rights and roles of union leaders, legal protections for stewards, problem-solving 101, and Weingarten rights.

When it comes to understanding chapter, local, and national union structure, collective bargaining, and labor rights – the jargon can be confusing, not to mention all the misinformation about unions that are spread around. This Zoom workshop will give the nuts and bolts about what a union is, and orientation of how unions operate, and why they matter.

Whether you’re bargaining or organizing for change, school employees should understand their district’s financial condition. This workshop is designed to enable you to become more familiar with the budget and speak authoritatively about what school districts can afford.

12/2: Deeper Dive into Weingarten

Tuesday, December 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This Zoom workshop will give you the chance to learn tips and practice your role when representing members called into closed-door meetings with management through interactive exercises, a video simulation, and a discussion.

Members who took a basic steward class this past year are being invited to sharpen their skills when representing co-workers in investigatory interviews during a one-and-a-half-hour Zoom discussion.
