Wednesday, May 13, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. **DAYTIME SESSION**

When it comes to understanding the structure of chapters, local, and national unions, collective bargaining, and labor rights, the jargon can be confusing, not to mention the misinformation about unions that is spread around.

This Zoom workshop will give the nuts and bolts about what a union is, an orientation on how unions operate, and why they matter.

4/7: Advanced Steward Course: San Francisco Office

Stewards who wish to develop their skills in putting arguments together and presenting cases, as well as writing grievances, are invited to attend. Intermediate Steward Course is a prerequisite.

4/15: Effective Grievance Writing: Oak Street, Oakland Office

Wednesday, April 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at SEIU Local 1021 Oakland Oak Street Office, First Floor Conference Room, 100 Oak Street, Oakland, CA 

In this in-person class, we will identify information to include in a written grievance, discuss dos and don’ts for writing formal grievances, and practice writing individually. 

Designed for experienced stewards and/or those who have completed the Intermediate or Advanced Steward courses as a prerequisite.

Designed for new stewards, this course focuses on the rights and roles of union leaders, legal protections for stewards, problem-solving 101, and Weingarten rights.

5/12: Deeper Dive into Weingarten

Tuesday, May 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This Zoom workshop will give you the chance to learn tips and practice your role when representing members called into closed-door meetings with management through interactive exercises, a video simulation, and a discussion.

Members who took the Basic Steward Course this past year are being invited to sharpen their skills when representing co-workers in investigatory interviews during a one-and-a-half-hour Zoom discussion.
