Official Notice of Nominations and Election to the 2026 Alameda County Bargaining Team

Article

Greetings from the 2026 Alameda County Bargaining Team Election Committee!  We are pleased to announce the nomination period for our 2026 Alameda County Bargaining Team. This nomination process marks the commencement of negotiations, where members nominate other members or themselves into positions to represent them at the bargaining table.

The process is stipulated below along with the timelines, requirements, and elections should there be more nominees than seats available for that bargaining unit.

Who is Eligible?

All SEIU 1021 members in good standing for one year immediately preceding the nomination.

Nominees must hold a classification in one of the nine SEIU 1021 represented bargaining units. The nominee will represent the entire unit.

To find out which bargaining unit you are in, please refer to page 72 of the contract under the section labeled “Appendix A-1 Classification Listing in Alphabetical Order.”

Nominations

The nomination period begins Wednesday, July 23, 2025, and ends Monday, August 25, 2025. Members may nominate themselves or another member by submitting a nomination form and candidate statement of no more than 100 words to 2026.alameda.county.bargaining.team [at] seiu1021.org no later than 5pm on Monday, August 25, 2025. Members nominated by someone else must accept the nomination by email to the Election Committee after submission of nomination. Once nominations are verified by the election committee, an election for the bargaining team will take place in September 2025 at various work locations for all contested seats.

Method of Election

Voting will take place in person at multiple locations (voting locations and times will be shared when determined). Only members in good standing are eligible to vote. Workers may sign up as a member at the voting location and cast a ballot. Members will only be able to vote for nominees from their unit.

Challenges to Election

Challenges or disputes arising from the election must be submitted to the Election Committee. Challenges must be submitted in writing to the election committee email (see below) and cite specific violations of the election rules and procedures.
