Nearly 600 SEIU 1021 members and their families from across Yuba, Butte, Shasta, Sutter, Solano, Sacramento, and Napa counties (also known as Region A) came together for a day of fun, family, and union solidarity at the Region A Waterpark Family Day on Saturday, August 29, at Sunsplash Water Park in Roseville.

Members spent the afternoon cooling off on waterslides, splashing in the pools, sharing lunch, and enjoying time with their families and union siblings. With a 90% turnout, the event offered hundreds of members an opportunity to connect outside of the workplace and build community across the region.

“What a great day in Region A! We had 90% turnout with almost 600 people in the waterpark,” said Region A Vice President, Elizabeth Harrison. “Our members and their loved ones enjoyed themselves in unprecedented numbers, and we had a ton of fun. That’s what it’s all about. Engaging the families means engaging the members. It was our pleasure to take care of the members this way because we grow stronger together.”

The Waterpark Family Day Unity Event was a reminder that union solidarity is built both on and off the job. By bringing members and their families together to play, eat, laugh, and enjoy a summer afternoon, Region A strengthened the relationships that make our union strong.
