SEIU 1021

SEIU 1021 is the Only Union Fighting for Fremont Employees

Post

Clarification is needed for a recent “vote” to disaffiliate last week, led by non-elected member Craig D. Conwright.

While it is alarming that one of our members not only bypassed the elected Chapter leadership, but also listened to advice from an Employer who seeks to weaken our position at the bargaining table, SEIU 1021 remains our union. Here are the facts about this “vote”:

FACT: It was not sanctioned by your elected Chapter leadership.

FACT: No neutral third party oversaw, or recognizes this election. Legitimate elections are called “Decertifications,” NOT Disaffiliations, and have strict legal requirements, including mutually agreed upon ballots and proper notification of members. This election had none of these.

FACT: Mr. Conwright attempted to file for decertification, but his petition was denied by the City after SEIU 1021 filed labor charges. The City then wrongly suggested that he seek disaffiliation. Why such a tactic a mere three months prior to your contract expiring? Because they want to divide us at the table.

FACT: SEIU Local 1021 is, and remains your Union, and we move forward, focused on negotiating for a better contract for the City of Fremont members.

We have not been distracted by this vote and Management’s attempts to divide us, and neither should you.

We must remain united in our goal for an improved contract. Our families and our livelihoods depend on it. Please review the below documents.
