For Earth Day, speak out for economic justice and climate justice!

Article

Working people are the backbone of our communities. When disasters like wildfires occur, we take action to protect one another, keeping cities and counties functioning in the most devastating circumstances.

One of the many reasons we demand #UnionsForAll is not just to unite and rebuild our neighborhoods, but to ensure that the next time a climate crisis occurs, working people won’t have to face it alone. In unity, we’re demanding that the Trump administration make no cuts to the climate programs we rely on, because climate emergencies hurt working people first and worst.

As Martha Hawthorne, a retired RN from San Francisco, said, “We’re in a moment of true crisis right now. Legal residents and SEIU members are being abducted and detained without charges, and will spend Earth Day in jail. This is proof that our rights as union members to organize, bargain, protest, and stop the destruction of our communities are under attack. One thing that gives me hope is seeing our members speak out, and seeing our communities listen to us, not billionaires trying to dismantle our government, take away our jobs, destroy our safety nets, fund the bombing of Palestine, and ravage our environment. There are many opportunities to get involved to fight back, and I hope to see many of my union siblings out there with us.”

Get involved!
