By celebrating Juneteenth, we honor the struggles of the past & highlight Black excellence

SEIU 1021 members are cordially invited to join us in celebrating Juneteenth this Friday, June 16, from 5:30-9:30 PM with a vibrant event featuring delicious food, captivating music, and a joyful atmosphere in the heart of San Francisco!

Juneteenth is important because it marks the day when enslaved African Americans in the United States were finally set free. It reminds us of the progress made in workers’ rights and equality, and the ongoing need to fight for fair treatment and opportunities. By celebrating Juneteenth, we honor the struggles of the past, highlight black excellence, and come together to support each other in our collective pursuit of justice and equality at and outside of our workplaces.

“Juneteenth is of profound importance to me as a Black woman and union vice president for San Francisco because it symbolizes the triumph over slavery and the resilience of the Black community,” said SEIU 1021 San Francisco Regional Vice President Kristin Hardy. ”It’s a celebration of Black excellence, reminding us of the countless contributions Black workers have made throughout history, inspiring us all to continue advocating for racial equity, and creating inclusive spaces within the labor movement.”

We kindly request your RSVP by calling the Member Resource Center (MRC) at 1-877-687-1021 (9am-5pm) or RSVPing here to ensure we have enough provisions to make this an unforgettable celebration of freedom and unity.
