Alameda County BHCS Chapter Officer Election Postponement Notice

Article

As outlined in our chapter bylaws, officer elections are scheduled for this November, with new officers assuming office in January 2026. However, since our contract negotiations are currently in progress, your chapter leadership—guided by the SEIU 1021 Template Bylaws—has made the careful decision to postpone the officer elections until after we successfully ratify our new contract.

This decision maintains stability, focus, and continuity on our bargaining team. Since the chapter president is a member of the negotiations team, delaying elections will help protect the integrity of the bargaining process and keep our full attention on what matters most right now—winning the strongest possible contract for all members before the current MOU expires in January.

Per the SEIU 1021 Template Bylaws (top of page two):

If a chapter has been in full contract bargaining for three (3) months or more and the officer terms are set to expire and the officers wish to extend their terms through the ratification of the contract or one (1) year, whichever comes first, they may do so by providing written notification to the general membership and to the bylaws committee via the Assistant to the Executive Board and the Special Assistant to the Executive Board.

Following this guidance, our chapter will postpone officer elections until the contract is ratified and expects to announce elections in early 2026.

We thank everyone for their ongoing commitment, participation, and solidarity during this vital time. Together, we will stay united and focused on securing a strong, fair contract that recognizes the hard work and dedication of every member.

In unity,
Your ALCO Behavioral Health Chapter Leadership
