Exciting news!  Our advocacy and activism have paid off: Assemblymember Chris Holden (D-Pasadena) introduced Assembly Bill 1228 on Monday. AB 1228 will raise the minimum wage for most fast-food workers in the state to $20 an hour by next April. Crucially, the fast-food giants will pull their referendum to repeal last year’s successful FAST Recovery Act off next November’s ballot.

What’s the catch? The bill needs to be passed by the time the Assembly goes into recess at the end of this week. That’s where YOU come in.

Please join SEIU members and fast-food workers Thursday, September 14, at 11 a.m. at the SEIU State Council office (1029 K St, Sacramento, CA 95814). We’ll be heading to the state capitol together to urge lawmakers to vote YES on AB 1228 to raise the wage and improve working conditions for fast-food workers.
