Stand with CCA Staff and Adjuncts at the CCA Union BBQ and Petition Launch

Post

On Sunday, July 18, 2021, CCA staff, adjuncts, students, and supporters will gather at the community grills located across the street from the Lake Merritt Boat House (665 Bellevue Ave, Oakland, CA 94610) from 1-4 pm for a Union BBQ and petition launch.

The Union BBQ is not only a social event, but this will also serve as the jumping-off point for the CCA campaign as we launch the CCA contract petition. We will encourage all attendees to sign the petition as a show of their support for workers. The socially distanced, all-ages gathering will feature hot dogs, veggie dogs, chips, and water for attendees.

Over the last few months, staff and adjuncts at CCA have been locked into negotiations over their contracts with the CCA administration. Workers are demanding no more unilateral decisions are made regarding their working conditions and they are calling on the administration to negotiate a fair contract.

CCA staff and adjuncts believe that working conditions are student learning conditions, but despite that, CCA administrators refuse to agree to any of the priorities workers have repeatedly identified as essential like living wages, meaningful investments in racial equity, transparency from the Board of Trustees and tangible, enforceable job security and seniority rights for staff and adjuncts like all unionized workers enjoy.

We call on you to support the CCA staff, adjuncts, and students as we call out President Beal and CCA’s management and demand a fair contract.
