Sonoma County Workers Fight for a Fair Contract

Post

Tuesday, March 12th, hundreds of Sonoma County workers gathered for a rally and swarmed the County Administration building where members of the Board of Supervisors were meeting regarding the contract negotiations.

“Such a strong showing of hundreds of us coming out today is a powerful statement of solidarity and support for our negotiating team,” said Cindy Vargas, a Senior Office Assistant in Adult Protective Services. We are here because this is important to us – we want to keep working and living here in Sonoma. We don’t want to be forced to move away for higher wages. We love it here, but many of us are struggling to get by. A full-time job with the County should be enough to live locally and afford the necessities.”

The County contract expired at the end of February. Negotiations resume Friday.
