Bargaining Team Nominations / Election

Per SEIU 1021 City of Oakland Bylaws, notice is hereby given of an election for the Bargaining Team for upcoming contract negotiations.

Elections shall be conducted electronically through personal email addresses and personal cell phone numbers. If you would like to confirm that SEIU 1021 has accurate contact information for you, please contact the Member Resource Center at 1-877-687-1021.

Bargaining Team Training

March 15, 2021

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, nominations for Bargaining Team members shall not require a nominating petition. Nominations to serve on the bargaining committee must be submitted by email to Karen.Williams@seiu1021.org by 5 p.m., March 9, 2021. All nominees must be members of SEIU Local 1021 in good standing. To be eligible to run for and serve on the Bargaining Team, a person must have been a member of SEIU Local 1021 for one full year, and must work within a bargaining unit represented by the chapter. Self-nominations are acceptable.

Candidates may submit an optional candidate statement of not more than 200 words. Candidate statements should be submitted by email to Karen.Williams@seiu1021.org by March 9, 2021.

The Bargaining Team shall be made up of the following representatives:

Members may run or be nominated for a seat on the Bargaining Team for their department only.

 

Challenges to or disputes arising from this election must be submitted in writing to the Chapter Election Committee within three (3) working days after the committee submits its written election report to the Chapter Executive Board. The committee shall respond within five (5) working days of the receipt of the challenge. Challenges or disputes which are denied or cannot be resolved by the Chapter Election Committee may be appealed in writing to the Local 1021 Chapter Executive Board within five (5) working days of receipt of the Chapter Election Committee’s decision. The Local 1021 Chapter Executive Board shall investigate and respond within fifteen (15) working days of receipt of the challenge. Challenges to the election will be considered valid only if they cite specific violations of the Chapter election rules and procedures, Chapter bylaws, or the Local 1021 Constitution and if the alleged violation may have affected the outcome of the election.

The bargaining team nominations start February 9, 2021 and close March 9, 2021 at 5 p.m.

The election will take place online via SurveyMonkey, starting on March 11th, 2021 at 9 a.m. and ending March 12th, 2021 at 5 p.m.

Survey Monkey will notify the Union of the outcome on March 12, 2021 at 6 p.m. We will call newly elected bargaining team members, and post the election results on our website.

The newly elected bargaining team members will start training March 15, 2021.
