Fremont Workers Gear Up for Contract Fight

Post

Our contract with the City expires in just three short months — on June 30.

We have already started to elect our SEIU Local 1021 bargaining team in preparation for these negotiations. Despite management’s confusion and some comments to the contrary, we remain one union — Local 1021.

As we move forward with bargaining, it is crucial that we are united in our fight for a fair contract.

“We must take a stand now and show our strength as workers and dedicated members of our community to win a fair contract,” said Susan Byrne Chapter President.

All across Northern California, Local 1021 and our leadership has renewed its focus on no-concession bargaining, and we have already been able to see better contracts that include wage increases and no economic takeaways.

Our employers’ anti-worker, anti-union bargaining tactics continue at many tables, but we know the playbook. We know how to fight back and win.

Our brothers and sisters in the cities of Hayward and in Oakland just started their bargaining with a demonstration against takeaways.

It is time for Fremont administrators to invest in our community and the infrastructure that drives our local economy and improves our standard of living. That includes frontline city employees — people who fix roads, staff our libraries and provide vital services for residents.

Stay tuned – we expect to lock down bargaining dates in the coming week.
