Our contract with the City of Lathrop expires on June 30, 2022. Below are the latest bargaining updates for the SEIU Local 1021 City of Lathrop chapter. The Bargaining Team’s job includes: Bargaining and making decisions at the negotiations table and working with the Contract Action Team to ensure strong activity at the worksites to support the bargaining.

City of Lathrop Chapter Bargaining Team

Bargaining Update #1 – March 3, 2022

  • We had our inaugural meeting with the management today.
  • According to the bargaining surveys, the membership’s top priorities are Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs) and Medical Insurance.
  • We submitted proposals ranging from contract language clean-up and COLAs, increasing the City’s amount for medical insurance, to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (Hero Pay).
  • The City indicated they are interested in a four-year deal. Management is taking our proposals to the Lathrop City Council during its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, March 14.
  • The next bargaining meeting dates are March 22 and April 13.

Bargaining Update #2 – March 22, 2022

  • The City of Lathrop management has countered our offer. Down below is our offer, followed by management’s offer:
    • Our original offer:
      • Term: 3 years
      • Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA): 6%, 6%, 5%
      • Longevity pay:
        • 10 years: 2.5% increase in pay
        • 15 years: 2.5% increase in pay
        • 20 years: 2.5% increase in pay
        • 25 years: 2.5% increase in pay
        • 30 years: 2.5% increase in pay
      • Health insurance: the City shall pay 100% of all premium increases
      • Added holiday: Juneteenth (June 19)
      • American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 / hero pay bonus: $2,500
      • Various changes and cleanup to the contract language
    • Management’s offer:
      • Term: 4 years
      • COLA: 4%, 4%, 4%, 4%
      • 1 floating holiday
      • Tuition reimbursement: increased from $1,100 to $3,000
      • Various changes and cleanup to the contract language: still pending

Bargaining Update #3 – April 5, 2022

  • We are pleased that we have reached a tentative agreement with the City of Lathrop management.
  • Highlights of the tentative agreement include:
    • Term 4 years; 2022 – 2026
    • COLA: 4%, 4%, 4%, 4%
    • Floating Holiday with roll-over option
    • Tuition reimbursement increased from $1,100 to $3,000 with an updated reimbursement timeline
    • Various changes and cleanup to Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) contract language
