SEIU 1021

THE CITY CAN DO BETTER

Post

Last week, the City approached us, and the other unions whose contracts are expiring on June 30 of this year, to discuss an extension offer. Today, in coalition with those other unions, we met with the City to hear what they had to say. After the meeting, they sent us a one-sentence proposal that we extend our existing contract as-is for the next two years, with no cost of living adjustment. The City can do better.

The City of Oakland isn’t broke. The Mayor’s administration has not taken steps to control its overspending on things that don’t help Oakland’s workers or residents, and it is looking to us to solve that problem. With a projected $177 million of federal aid money on its way, it is time to invest in a just recovery that lifts up all Oaklanders, not repeat the mistakes of 2008 and try to cut our way out of this crisis.

To help us fight for a just recovery for our members and our community, nominate yourself or someone else to serve on our elected Bargaining Team.

Represent Your Department in the 2021 Bargaining Sessions

The City of Oakland contract will expire on June 30, 2021 and we will soon start bargaining. But before we do WE NEED YOU!

You can nominate yourself or someone in your department to represent your group at the negotiating table.

To be nominated, you must be on “Active” status with the City of Oakland for a period of 1 year or more and you must be a dues-paying member.

During these unprecedented times, we will use email to collect nominations and hold the bargaining team elections electronically using SurveyMonkey.

Please submit your nominations to Karen Williams via email: Karen.williams@seiu1021.org by March 9, 2021 at 5 p.m.
