Ad Hoc Committee Update
Next Meeting: Wednesday, May 6
Wear Your Purple to Support Your Union!
In March, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors instructed AHS to meet collaboratively with us and other in an ad hoc committee to address the system’s financial issues and plan for the future. The AHS Board of Trustees finally agreed to this in March, and the committee started meeting on April 1.
So far, AHS management has brought no productive proposals to the committee. Management wants concessions from workers, including:
- Furloughs
- Reduced COLAs
- Higher healthcare premiums
As usual, it’s up to us to do management’s job for them. How can your department increase revenue? How can your department do a better job collecting money owed to AHS?
If you have ideas, please email your SEIU 1021 Field Representative or chapter officer.
Negotiations Update
Next Meeting: Thursday May 7
Legally, AHS must bargain over any layoffs they wish to impose on our members and the community we serve. Since they have once again announced layoffs for June 30, this bargaining begins on Thursday. We’ll have to fight this all the way: Stay tuned for details!
