SEIU 1021 members in Region B gather for the North Coast Unity Party

Thursday, December 7, camaraderie and celebration filled the air as more than 100 SEIU 1021 members in Region B gathered in Santa Rosa for a much-anticipated North Coast Unity Party. While festive, this event was not only a party, but a vibrant testament to the strength and solidarity of our union.

As members arrived, they were greeted with an array of sumptuous Mediterranean cuisine and a variety of refreshing drinks. Music played, and members danced. Near the entrance was a photo booth, where members captured festive holiday-themed pictures. Throughout the night, SEIU 1021 Executive Board members held raffle giveaways of snacks, drinks, gift cards, and electronics.

2023 has indeed been a monumental year for Region B, with significant contract victories in Sonoma County and Marin Municipal Water District.

A poignant moment of the evening was a speech by SEIU 1021 Treasurer Amos Eaton. Recently re-elected to the board of the Sonoma County Employee’s Retirement Association (SCERA), he attributed his overwhelming victory to the unity and action of SEIU 1021’s membership.

He reflected, “I am so grateful to be re-elected. There is so much work to be done. We must change SCERA policy to make it easier to recommend COLAs for our retirees. We must increase funds. And ultimately, we must create a pre-funded retirement COLA for our members still working.”

The North Coast Unity Party was more than just a gathering; it was a reflection of our shared values and the accomplishments we have achieved together.
