It’s time to make a plan to vote!
A message from Vice President of Politics Ramsés Teón-Nichols
“One of the ways union members win power is by using their vote to support pro-worker measures, initiatives, and candidates. Our coworkers who give their time and energy to our Committees on Political Education (COPE) have put incredible work into our slate of endorsements this year, and I encourage everyone to join that vital work and become a COPE contributor to help build our union power.
“As the election nears, it’s important for all of us to make our voices heard at the ballot box, and that starts with making a plan. The plan should include doing your homework on the candidates and measures you’ll be voting on. I recommend starting with our endorsements for local elections and SEIU California’s endorsements for state and federal elections. If you plan to vote by mail, find a date to sit down with your ballot and fill it out, and find a ballot drop box or polling place to drop it off.
“And, of course, if you’re not registered to vote, you absolutely should be. You can register online to vote until October 21 here. Same-day voter registration is available in California, and you can learn more here. If you’re not sure whether or not you are registered, you can check that here.
“We have a massive opportunity to fight off a dangerous, anti-democratic, anti-worker, anti-immigrant movement that wants to rewind our country to a time in history when only rich, white men had any power. It’s vital for every one of us to answer the call and show that working people are united on Election Day this year.”
