Bargaining Update
April 18, 2025
Your elected bargaining committee met with City management on April 14 to discuss negotiating our new union contract.
We began the session by highlighting the excellent work we all do for the residents of this great city. We take pride in caring for the people of Richmond every day and expect management to take care of us in return.
We also discussed merging of the part-time and full-time union contracts, and some ground rules for our bargaining sessions.
The City discussed the possibility of extending the current contract with a wage increase and possibly a few other items. However, we rejected that idea. We believe it is in the best interest of all of us to have full-fledged negotiations over the next few months, and we are not interested in an extension.
