Mills College Staff Workers Vote to Join SEIU 1021
On March 11, employees of Oakland’s Mills College voted
overwhelmingly to form a union. Nearly 95% of the votes cast were
YES votes. Staff members unite with the adjunct facility in
SEIU 1021 to improve student learning and working conditions at
the college. Adjunct faculty voted to join SEIU 1021
in 2014.
As Trans-Inclusive Clinic Confirms Closure, Advocates Rally For Emergency Funds From The City to Keep It Open
The emergency funding from the City will ensure the survival of the one of few clinics providing gender-affirming care
On March 12, more than 150 nurses, providers, supporters held a
rally to demand the City of San Francisco provide $1.4 million in
emergency supplemental funding to stabilize Lyon-Martin and
the Women’s Community Clinic, a trans-inclusive primary care
clinic in the Mission.
Clinic staff was informed by administrators of HealthRIGHT 360
that they were moving the services of Lyon-Martin and the
Women’s Community Clinic from the 1735 Mission St. location to
HealthRIGHT 360’s main headquarters, at 1563 Mission Street.

As the Coronavirus Threat Looms, Registered Nurses, Healthcare Workers Fight To Protect San Francisco
On March 5, hundreds of public healthcare
workers rallied at a press conference and testified at a
hearing at SF City Hall. Registered nurses, doctors, social
workers urged the Board of Supervisors to boost staffing and
provide safer working conditions at San Francisco Department of
Public Health (DPH) facilities.
Workers made their case: San Francisco needs more registered
nurses and support staff, expedite hiring, more violence and
disaster training, and include workers in decisions
affecting their work.
County Workers Take A Stand for San Joaquin Residents in Two-Day Strike
As community suffers from systemic neglect of services by the Board of Supervisors, thousands of workers fight back against the Board’s illegal refusal to bargain
Thousands of San Joaquin County workers from several selected County departments participated in the strike, including Human Services Agency, Behavioral Health Services, Substance Abuse Services, the Department of Child Support Services, and San Joaquin General Hospital. Registered Nurses at the County hospital who are members of the California Nurses Association (CNA) also participated in this week’s strike over growing concerns regarding rampant short staffing.
