Donate to SEIU 1021’s Toy Drive
This year marks SEIU 1021’s second annual toy drive for
low-income families. Last year’s Toy Drive helped 150
families. Event organizers are wanting to help over 250
families this time around.
Members are being asked to donate new toys and gift cards for
children ages infant to 12 years old at an SEIU 1021 office
near you.
“Our goal is to collect donations by Friday, December 13. We want
to help as many families as possible this holiday season,” said
Sandra Lewis, SEIU 1021 VP of Representation.

SEIU 1021 Members Participate in the International Youth Climate Strike
On September 20, SEIU 1021 members across Northern California stood with students, climate change activists, and other unions by participating in the International Youth Climate Strike. Together, workers demanded that world leaders take immediate, bold action on climate change and to raise standards for working people.
“Children Don’t Belong in Cages”
On Friday, July 12, we joined millions across the country to shine a light on the inhumane conditions facing migrants in detention centers. With rallies and vigils held in Oakland and in Marysville, we took part in the Lights for Liberty national day of action to call on the Trump Administration to stop the separation of families and to stop the raids that incite fear in our communities.

On June 16, at Santa Clara University’s commencement ceremony, adjuncts and lecturers’ campaign for a free and fair election on unionization got a big shout out during the keynote speech by actor Martin Sheen. As a labor, environmental, and anti-war activist, as well as a life-long union member, he was willing to treat his commencement speech as an opportunity to urge the SCU administration to grant adjuncts and lecturers a fair and free vote to unionize.

California College of the Arts Staff Vote Overwhelmingly to Join SEIU 1021
On Monday, April 22, California College of the Arts (CCA) non-faculty staff voted overwhelmingly to form their union with SEIU 1021.
Workers Take Action to Stop Harassment and Discrimination
On March 7, more than 1,000 San Francisco workers and community
allies protested in front of the headquarters of the SF Municipal
Transportation Agency and the city’s Human Resources Department
to demand City Administrators take immediate action to stop
sexual harassment and end gender discrimination across city
departments.
The rally comes after city ombudsman Dolores Blanding
released a report detailing allegations of bullying, verbal
abuse, discrimination, and sexual harassment within city
departments.
Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) Classified Staff Honor Teacher Picket Lines in Sympathy Strike
OUSD Classified workers including 1,000 instructional specialists, school security officers, administrative workers and other workers honored picket lines in support of striking teachers.
