Registration for All Members of 2021 Virtual Convention of SEIU 1021 ended on September 10.
The 2021 SEIU 1021 Convention is only weeks away, and we’ve been busy lining up dynamic speakers, engaging workshops, and an amazing program. Our convention platforms will focus on six key areas of our work: Economic Justice, Racial Justice, Climate Justice, Unions for All, Reclaiming Our Democracy, and Member Unity and Power.
SF Registered Nurses win huge arbitration victory restoring bilingual pay
Earlier this year, our union filed for arbitration over management’s decision to begin withholding bilingual pay for nurses. Management stopped administering the test for bilingual pay, and refused to continue to give bilingual pay from nurses who had already been approved.
Earlier this month, we finally got word that the arbitrator had issued his decision, saying that the City blatantly violated the MOU by:

In a huge victory on Friday, Judge Roesch of the Alameda Superior Court ruled that Proposition 22 violates the Constitution of the State of California, meaning the gig industry-funded ballot initiative is unconstitutional and is therefore unenforceable.

CalPERS Election: Interview with Candidate Jose Luis Pacheco
The race for the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) Board of Administration is on. One of the candidates running for a seat on the Board of Administration is Jose Luis Pacheco, an IT professional for the San Jose Evergreen Community College District. Pacheco also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the member-owned Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union. Additionally, Pacheco sits on the Board of Directors for Latinas Contra Cancer, a non-profit that addresses Breast Cancer health disparities in the Latina community.
