Join SEIU 1021 in mobilizing to pass Prop O in SF!
Elections have consequences. And some of the most consequential items on the ballot are not candidates at all.
For example, San Francisco voters will be asked to vote on Proposition O this November. This ballot measure, which SEIU 1021 is sponsoring along with AFT 2121, will raise roughly $45 million a year for City College to provide the programs and wraparound services needed to serve its unique student population.

San Francisco City College staff, faculty, students, and other supporters from the community and from a historic labor coalition kicked off the “Yes on O” voter education and mobilization campaign Sunday, August 21. The rally comes on the heels of Measure O qualifying for the November 8 ballot with over 20,000 signatures—well over twice the requirement.

Pension funds not being deposited into employees’ accounts, forcing some to delay retirement. 401(k) contributions being deducted from paychecks but not deposited into 401(k) accounts. Insurance premiums being deducted from paychecks but not paid to the insurance companies, so that policies are being canceled or are refusing to accept claims without payment. Approved leave not being paid. Overtime not being paid. New hires not receiving their benefits when they reach the date they should. Teachers not getting paid for months.

For more than two months, a coalition of parents, students, and community members have been engaged in a nonviolent sit-in occupation to save Oakland’s Parker Elementary. On Thursday, the Oakland Unified School District deployed a private security team to forcefully and violently remove the protestors.

AB 1912 and 1614 would protect schools from predatory loans and closures that disproportionately harm communities of color
Members of SEIU 1021’s Oakland Unified School District chapter headed to Sacramento last Tuesday, May 17, along with members of Oakland Education Association, community allies, and union members from other school districts, including Vallejo, Inglewood, and South Monterey County. They had a very specific mission: advocating for state assemblymembers to support Assembly Bills 1912 and 1614.
Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District classified staff ratify strong contract
They will be seeing big improvements to wages and longevity pay, as well as one-time stipends
Last week, SEIU 1021 members at Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District (CRPUSD) voted on a tentative agreement (TA) reached with the district after they participated in a six-day sympathy strike with the teachers of Rohnert Park Cotati Educators Association (RPCEA) in March.
