Workers Speak Out to Stop the Abuse of Temporary, At-Will Workers
On April 4th at SF City Hall, over 75 members of SEIU 1021 and
IFPTE Local 21 lined up for public comment to ask the SF Board of
Supervisors Government Audit & Oversight Committee to stop the
abuse of temporary and exempt workers city workers. Temporary and
exempt workers lack job security, and most workers have fewer
benefits and protections.
SEIU 1021 Statement on Sacramento City Unified School District Teachers’ Strike
(Sacramento, CA) – SEIU 1021, the union representing 2,000 Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) workers, released the following statement on the teachers’ strike scheduled for Thursday, April 11. SEIU 1021 represents bus drivers, instructional aides, custodians, teachers’ aides, clerks, child care attendants, food service workers, and special education aides across the district’s 81 schools.

Per SEIU 1021 Contra Costa County Rank and File Chapter Bylaws, notice is hereby given of an election for Chapter Officers.
All Chapter Officers shall serve two-year terms. The term of office for these officers shall end March 31, 2021. The member running for office must have been a member in good standing for at least one (1) year and be employed within a bargaining unit represented by the Chapter.

Wear your purple and speak out before the Mayor’s Task Force on the Minimum Compensation Ordinance (MCO).
Nonprofit workers and our community and labor allies fought hard to get City leaders to prioritize raising nonprofit wages, but we must make sure the Task Force raises the wages of everyone —from the lowest paid workers to those who are responsible for leading programs at nonprofits. Together we must make sure that nonprofit workers who step into positions with increased responsibilities are compensated accordingly.
