DoorDash Drivers Demand Dignity – Interview with a We Drive Progress food-delivery worker
Deemed essential workers, delivery drivers working for DoorDash have faced unfair and exploitative working conditions throughout the pandemic. Workers are expected to make several deliveries at once for low pay – two deliveries, requiring four separate stops at restaurants and individuals’ homes often pay as little as $12-$15 with no compensation for gas money, parking, or vehicle upkeep. DoorDash delivery drivers are ruled by ratings from their customers, how many deliveries they accept, and how many deliveries are completed.

Open registration for the SEIU 1021 2021 Virtual Convention opens on Wednesday, August 25!
This year’s motto of “Organize Good Trouble” is inspired by American statesman and civil rights activist John Robert Lewis’ quote: ”Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America.” Taking that inspiration of upholding the good fight for workers and working families as a union, we have created the following convention platforms:

In both of these elections, we can make the choice to protect our futures and invest in our communities, but we have to get out and vote, then talk to our friends and neighbors about doing the same.

It's a Right-Wing Attack on Our Jobs and Our Communities
According to recent polling, if the election to recall Governor Gavin Newsom were held today, he would lose. Without a worker-friendly governor in office, our jobs would be in jeopardy, and our communities would be left with less of the support they need.
Too many of our friends, co-workers, and family members aren’t taking this recall election seriously. You can help stand up for good, union jobs and services for our communities no matter where you live or work.
