SEIU Local 1021’s Internship for Leader Development is looking for energetic and motivated members who are committed to working for social and racial justice, believe in the value of work, the democratic process, and the importance of public services. This program will train and mobilize members who want to unleash their leadership potential.

Through interactive exercises, a video simulation and a discussion, this zoom workshop will give you the chance to learn tips and practice your role when representing members called into closed door meetings with management.
Members who took a basic steward class this past year are being invited to sharpen their skills when representing co-workers in investigatory interviews during a 1.5 hour zoom discussion.

SEIU members from across California rally in Sacramento to support the Healthcare and Essential Workers Protection Act
Today, healthcare workers gathered at the Capitol to ensure the
passage of SB 275, the Healthcare and Essential Workers
Protection Act. The Act will create a comprehensive
PPE plan for California to ensure frontline workers never again
find themselves without appropriate protective equipment during a
pandemic or other emergency.

Port of Oakland management thinks it’s fair to ask SEIU 1021 members to endure layoffs or up to 16 unpaid furlough days while they sit on more than 70 million dollars in reserves. It’s not fair, and it will make our jobs less safe, and we won’t stand for it.
