Oakland, California: As the California Assembly District Election Meeting for Assembly District 18 on Sunday, January 27 nears, workers united in SEIU Local 1021 have endorsed the Progressive/Labor UNITY Slate, citing the candidates’ experience and effectiveness in advancing progressive issues within the East Bay community. Candidates on the Progressive/Labor UNITY Slate come from a diverse background and experience service the public.

Mendocino College Workers Stand Up for Community Needs Over Administrators’ Greed
Top college district administrators keep wages down, while inflating their own salaries.

On January 24, Mendocino Lake Community College District (MLCCD) Classified and Temporary workers picketed at the college campus in Ukiah to protest unnecessary takeaways, including workers’ ability to use earned time off in cases of extended illness or injury. 

Top administrators have inflated their own salaries while trying to hold down wages for faculty and staff, and replace good jobs with temporary positions that lack benefits.

On Monday, January 21, all across the country, thousands are expected to march in commemoration of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. In San Francisco, City and county workers will join the march to honor Dr. King’s legacy and to continue his fight for justice for all.

Alameda County Bargaining Update
January 30, 2019

On 1/29, your bargaining team held their first session with the County to discuss a contract extension. Both sides reviewed the Tentative Agreement that failed in 2018 and specifically discussed why it wasn’t successful. Your bargaining team then caucused and discussed the pros and cons of extending the contract
