I’ve worked for SFUSD for the last 38 years in the Environmental Health Department. I also serve as the SFUSD Chapter President.

I work for Oakland Unified School District as an Accounting Clerk in the Facility Dept. I am also the First Vice President for the OUSD chapter.

City of Berkeley Clerical and Maintenance Workers Stick Together and Win a Strong Contract

City of Berkeley workers rally for a strong contract outside City Hall.

Early in the morning of June 24, the City of Berkeley’s elected Bargaining Teams for the Clerical and Maintenance chapters reached a tentative agreement with City representatives. The new three-year contract keeps medical and dental benefits at their current levels, and includes cost of living adjustments of 4% in the first year, 3% in the second, and 1% in the third, along with a signing bonus after ratification.

Dear Co-Workers:

We are actively negotiating on your behalf as your elected Bargaining Team. We held a very telling session with the City last week.

Currently, we have reached 6 tentative agreements (these will be voted on by all full members in order to become final) with the City. There have been more than 30 proposals shared at the table.

This past weekend, we commemorated Juneteenth—but the fight for racial justice is far from over

President Joe Biden signed a measure into law last Thursday establishing June 19 as Juneteenth National Independence Day, a day commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The day is also sometimes called “Juneteenth Independence Day,” “Freedom Day” or “Emancipation Day.” It’s the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was created in 1983.
