2021 CCA Chapter Election

Monday, April 26, 2021, ballots for the 2021 CCA chapter elections will go out via Election Buddy. Please note, the deadline to request a ballot is Friday, April 30, 2021, and voting will close on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at midnight. 

Please mark your calendars for a Union Town Hall and Candidate Forum on April 28th at 5:30 PM.  The town hall will kick off with bargaining updates, then you’ll have a chance to hear from union officer candidates, and have an opportunity to ask the candidates questions.

SEIU 1021 City of Oakland Chapter
Update for April 22, 2021

On Friday, April 23, our elected Bargaining Team will meet with representatives from the City to discuss the City’s proposed contract extension.

Our team is united that any extension must include a fair cost of living adjustment, which the City has so far not offered.

Show your support for the team by wearing your purple this Friday, and join our chapter meeting Wednesday, April 28, from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. to find out more and get involved!

Alameda County Superior Courts Rally and Unity Break Locations

Join your fellow SEIU 1021 members on Thursday, April 22, 2021, for a series of rallies and unity breaks to fight back against potential layoffs and furloughs for Alameda County Superior Courts workers.

Port of Oakland Custodians Speak Out About the Understaffing Making the Airport Unsafe for Passengers and Workers
“What do we want? We want to be safe! What do we want? We want YOU safe!”

On Wednesday, April 14, dozens of custodians at Oakland International Airport held an informational picket to call out chronic understaffing that is leaving crucial sanitation work undone and creating unsafe conditions. The custodians picketed and hung a banner over 880 to call attention to the issues they have been facing for more than a year.

Sac City Unified School District Classified Workers

Just before midnight on Monday, April 19, a marathon mediation session between Sacramento City Unified School District and classified workers represented by SEIU 1021 produced a tentative agreement (TA) that both sides believe will allow SCUSD to safely welcome all students back to in-person learning. As a result of this TA, the Unfair Labor Practice strike that had been scheduled for Thursday and Friday is now canceled.

What influenced your decision to run for office in your chapter?

My job is so overwhelming with all the growth that has happened that I didn’t feel I had any free time to get involved, but serving as a Negotiator or in a Union office is something that has interested me. When negotiations come up I always wish I was more involved. But I don’t know how it all works. I’m just learning.  I thought VP would be an easy office. I’m hoping this will be a good easy way to get my feet wet.
