Is Alameda County Serious?
After two months of bargaining, they still aren’t listening to workers’ concerns.
SEIU 1021’s bargaining team has met more than a dozen times with Alameda County management, and only on Thursday, December 1, did the County bother to put any wages at all on the table, more than two months after we passed a wage proposal.
Their opening three-year wage offer is lower than the 8.6% nationwide Consumer Price Index for 2022.
Is the County serious with this proposal?
The rest of the County’s offers aren’t much better:

Help make our 2022 SEIU 1021 toy drive a success for Bay Area families
Join SEIU 1021, IFPTE Local 21, and nonprofit community partners
around Northern California in filling up a school bus (gracefully
loaned from Hayward Unified School District) with thousands of
toys for children in underserved communities. In the past five
years alone, the SEIU 1021 Toy Drive has successfully collected
and distributed more than 10,000 toys. Due to the effects of the
pandemic and inflation, we anticipate this year’s requests for
toys will be higher than ever, so please contribute if you’re
able.

As workers continue to win legislative victories, fast-food corporations attempt to subvert democracy and workers’ rights
After a multiyear fight to win Assembly Bill 257 - the Fast Food Accountability and Standards (FAST) Recovery Act, fast-food corporations, such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Jack in the Box, and more, are working hard to undermine this victory. AB 257 contains significant gains that protect and empower California’s five-hundred-fifty-thousand fast-food workforce with a seat at the table to help set minimum industry standards around wages, safety and training.
