SEIU 1021 Wins 2 Organizing Victories in 2 Days

On consecutive days during the week before Thanksgiving, more than 120 employees at two nonprofit organizations — La Familia and Native American Health Center — voted to join SEIU 1021.

The circumstances of the two organizing campaigns couldn't have been more different. NAHC management mounted a hostile campaign against their workers, who fought to victory despite the pressure and intimidation. La Familia’s management, on the other hand, practiced true neutrality and the workers approved SEIU affiliation with 100 percent of the vote.

Workers at both agencies earned themselves an early holiday present this year in the form of renewed hope for themselves and their families, and a sense of empowerment at the workplace.
