Sonoma Courts Win New Contract
Overwhelming 95% of members vote for ratification
After many months of bargaining and a summer of rallies and other action, SEIU 1021 members at the Sonoma Superior Courts have won a good contract. The TA reached with management has now been overwelmingly ratified by our membership at the court.
Highlights of the 2-year deal include:
- Status quo on healthcare.
- 4% COLA now and 3.5% effective 09-30-08
- $200.00 signing bonus
- Equity Adjustments
- No layoffs due to automation (ie, the introduction of electronic court reporting)
The only remaining issue, which is outside the scope of the contract, is two of our stewards who had been placed on administrative leave due to their refusal to be intimidated during the campaign. Our victory at the table would not have been possible without their courageous leadership at the work site.
