Supervisor (NAME):

I have proudly worked for Napa County in (Your Department) for (years employed) years. During that time, I have witnessed countless negotiations between the County and the Union representing the employees. In all that time, I have never seen such disparity in the proposals offered to the employees vis a vis those offered for management. Further, I have never seen such proposals that would place such a hugely disproportionate burden on the employees. In short, I have never seen such disrespect by the County towards the employees as I am seeing this year.

Let's take some examples. The County is proposing shifting $70,000 A MONTH of current health care costs to employees and increasing employee health care contributions up to 300% in 2008 and years thereafter. In contrast, the County continues to offer a sweetheart healthcare deal to its elected officials and department heads. That's disrespect.

The County is proposing eliminating overtime to a significant number of employees, and for those that still retain it; the County will dictate whether or not the overtime is paid as cash or comp time. That's disrespect.

The County is proposing changes to the grievance policy to exempt itself from violations of its own policies and procedures. That's disrespect.

The County is proposing that injured employees must exhaust ALL paid leave before applying for a disability, a tactic designed solely to strip health benefits from injured works. That's really disrespect.

You'd think that after working hard for the County for (years employed ) years, you'd at least earn some respect. Sadly, that does not seem to be the case.
