CAPITAL STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE

The Capital Stewardship Committee of Local 1021 was created with the passage of the first version of our union's bylaws in December 2009.  The Committee was created for the first time as an official group in Local 1021, and it is defined as a Standing Committee.  In addition, the Chair of the CapStew Committee is elected union-wide, and has a seat on the Executive Board of the union.  The current Chair is Harry Baker.

The committee works to obtain and protect reasonable pension and healthcare benefits for our members in their retirement.  We organize to fight back against the attacks on our retirement benefits from the media and the conservatice establishment.  We join with our allies in the community to shine the light on the real villains of the depressed economy and the pension unfunded liabilities - the Big Banks and greedy Wall Street investment houses.
