SEIU 1021 Community Guidelines

Welcome to the 1021 Network community!

The 1021 Network is a collection of social media sites and tools where members of SEIU Local 1021 and the general public have the opportunity to post comments and interact:

Website: www.seiu1021.org
Facebook: www.facebook.com/seiu1021
Twitter: www.twitter.com/seiu1021 - @seiu1021 - #seiu1021
YouTube: www.youtube.com/seiu1021

Access to commenting and other interactive features may be different for each site, but some general rules of conduct apply. See the “General Comment Policy” and “Prohibited Uses” below. SEIU 1021 reserves the right to unpublish and/or delete any post or comment for violation of these provisional Community Guidelines.

Registration

Registration may be required to post content or comments on a particular site or to use its interactive features. On SEIU1021.org, registration enables Local 1021 members and staff to access interactive features such as discussion groups and a control panel to customize their user experience.

To request access to the discussions, email and other interactive features of a particular chapter or committee page (“group”) on SEIU1021.org, click any “register” or “login” link on the page, then once you’ve registered or logged in, visit the page and click “Request membership.” Your request must be approved by the group’s chapter administrator (“web steward”). Only staff and active and retired members of SEIU 1021 may join groups on SEIU1021.org.

Comments & Interactivity

Opinions expressed in comments are the personal opinions of the original writers and do not necessarily reflect the views of SEIU 1021.

Comments should be relevant to the story or discussion. Your comments will have the greatest impact if they are brief, clear and on-topic.

No spamming, flaming, flooding, trolling, advertising or soliciting is allowed (See “Prohibited Uses” below).

SEIU1021.org and our other sites provide many options for visitors to share content through their own social media networks. We encourage this as much as possible.

from “1021 Network Site Use Policy, Part III: Interactivity”

General Comment Policy

The general policy is to encourage freedom of expression, provided that users and visitors take individual responsibility for their own published words.

Site Visitors: Comments on published content may be subject to approval by a moderator before being posted to SEIU1021.org or any 1021 Network site that enables commenting. Comment posters are responsible for responding (or not) to comments on their own posts. All comments and posts may be removed by an administrator without notice if deemed to violate this Site Use Policy, in particular the "Prohibited Uses" (below).

Users: All web stewards and other members and staff with user accounts to a 1021 Network site who post to a blog, wall or similar space on those sites are responsible for responding to comments on their own posts, i.e. users are considered the moderator for their own posts or content. In any moderated group or listserv, however, the group administrator is the moderator.

Prohibited Uses

No material may be published on SEIU1021.org or the 1021 Network that:

1) may be considered defamatory, libelous, obscene, uncivil, harassing, discriminatory or threatening;

2) infringes any person's copyright or other intellectual property rights;

3) violates another person's rights of privacy or publicity;

4) solicits any type of commercial or for-profit service or transaction;

5) violates union election rules or the SEIU 1021 Constitution or Bylaws;

6) violates state, federal or local laws concerning political campaign contributions.
