Same Campaign – Different Name

“1021 Single Payer” is now called “1021 Medicare for All.” The name change follows the trend within the broader Single Payer movement to make instantly recognizable the goal of giving to everyone what Medicare currently gives to seniors and the disabled.

Since we expect to close gaps in the current Medicare program when it becomes universal, our new name is really an abbreviation for “Expanded and Improved Medicare for All.” That’s the title of HR 676, Representative John Conyers’ bill, currently in the US Congress, which we vigorously support. HR 676 ends co-pays and deductibles and it is comprehensive, including vision and dental care, hospitalization and long-term care, substance abuse treatment, mental health, pharmaceuticals, and all other medically necessary care.
