John Edwards: A Candidate We Trust on Our Issues

VOTE Feb 5, 2008

John Edwards understands working families because he grew up in one. He learned the value of hard work from his father and mother, both union members. He was the first in his family to go to college and worked his way through law school.

John Edwards has made standing up for middle-class working families the centerpiece of his plan to bring America together. He has committed to our issues:

Universal Health Care: Edwards will create a true universal health care system that covers everyone in America, brings down costs, and creates more choices and security.

Good Jobs & Economic Security: Edwards will invest in quility public services, will invest in jobs of the future by creating a new energy economy based on clean, renewable energy and will eliminate tax incentives for corporations investing overseas.

Excellent Schools & Educational Opportunities:Edwards will overhaul No Child Left Behind, invest more to turn around struggling schools, and create opportunities to help everyone work their way through college.

Affordable Housing:Edwards will help families save for a down payment with a new Get Ahead tax credit, create 1 million housing vouchers to let families live where they choose, and build more economically integrated housing.

Strong Families: Edwards will work with states to offer eight weeks of paid leave to new parents and workers with serious illnesses in the family and will expand early childhood education and the childcare tax credit.
